Thank
you for your interest in Saddleback Christian Academy.
Established in 1987, Saddleback Christian Academy (SCA) is made up of approximately 150 Christian families, mostly from south Orange County, who take full responsibility for their children’s education.
SCA files an affidavit as a private school with the state of California each year and is classified as a Private School Satellite Program, in which the students’ education is provided by or under the direction of their parents. It is our focus to aid the Christian home schooling family in preparing well-rounded students who will be able to acknowledge the sovereign God in all spheres of life.
SCA offers a wide variety of support activities and resources to our home schooling families, including monthly parent (faculty) meetings, field trips, record keeping, testing, special events, assemblies, Speech meetings that use the Toastmasters International Youth Leadership curriculum, and supplementary classes. Through SCA, students are eligible to compete in ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) activities such as spelling bees and competitive speech tournaments. Our success depends upon the families of the school coming together to help serve in different capacities. Parents are required to select their own curriculum/course of study for their children, submit monthly attendance sheets and quarterly reports, to attend monthly faculty meetings, to participate in student testing for grades 3 and up, to be members of The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), and to serve our school in some capacity during the school year.
At this time, annual tuition is $350 for one student, $500 for two students and $650 for three or more students, which is paid over a 10-month period (September through June). We offer supplementary, unit study type classes for our elementary students, which vary in subject each year (i.e. science or history). We have a fall session, which meets from September to just before thanksgiving (8 weeks), a winter session from January to March (10 weeks), and a spring session from May to early June (6 weeks). Class fees are in addition to your tuition and vary from $50-$60 per session and are typically broken down and paid monthly. Our choir classes are a full year and follow the same schedule of dates as the unit study classes. Our Elementary choir fee is $120 annually and is paid over a five-month period at $20 per month. You may enroll in classes and choir simultaneously, or chose only one or the other. Junior and Senior High classes vary from year to year, and run on a more traditional school schedule, meeting one to two times a week. Junior and Senior High class fees typically run from $20-$40 monthly, per subject. Please know that classes are not required but are available if you chose to utilize them.
Registration for the 2009-2010 school year is closed. Please join us next year for our new-family information meeting, which will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 6:45 PM, at Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo. If you plan to attend the May meeting, please contact us at info@scaathome.com in late March or early April so that we can prepare an application for you.
