About SCA
Thank you for your interest in Saddleback Christian Academy.

Established in 1987, Saddleback Christian Academy (SCA) is made up of about 150 Christian families, mostly from south Orange County, who take full responsibility for their children’s education. It is our focus to aid the Christian home schooling family in preparing well-rounded students who will be able to acknowledge the sovereign God in all spheres of life.

SCA offers a wide variety of support activities and resources to our home schooling families, including monthly parent (faculty) meetings, field trips, record keeping, testing, special events, assemblies, Speech meetings that use the Toastmasters International Youth Leadership curriculum, and supplementary classes. Through SCA, students are eligible to compete in ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) activities such as spelling bees and competitive speech tournaments. Our success depends upon the families of the school coming together to help serve in different capacities. SCA files an affidavit as a private school with the state of California each year. Parents with SCA are required to select their own curriculum/course of study for their children, submit monthly attendance sheets and quarterly report cards, to attend our monthly meetings, to participate in student testing for grades 3 and up, to be members of The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), and to serve our school in some capacity during the school year.

At this time, tuition is $35 monthly for one student, $50 for two students, and $65 for three or more students. Elementary classes (such as choir, chess, or hands-on space science) typically meet 8 times in the fall, 10 times in the winter, and 6 times in the spring. These classes are about $6 per class meeting (i.e. $60 for six classes, in addition to your tuition.) Many of our families also meet together outside the school to “team-teach” a class with their children. Junior and Senior High classes vary depending on the year, and run on a more traditional school schedule, usually meeting once a week. In previous years, math, sciences, Spanish, choir, art, competitive speech and debate, and world views classes have been offered. Junior and Senior High fees typically run from $20-$40 monthly, per class. In addition to classes, monthly activities (bowling, service projects, Super Bowl party, etc.) are available to our junior high or high school students.

Registration for the 2007-2008 school year is closed. Please join us next year for our new-family information meeting which will be held on Monday night, May 5, 2008 at 6:45 PM, at Crossroads Community Church in Mission Viejo. If you plan to attend the May meeting please contact us at info@scaathome.com in late March or April so that we can have an application waiting for you. The registration deadline for the 2008-2009 school year will be June 2, 2008. May God bless you on your home schooling journey.

Thank you again for you interest in Saddleback Christian Academy. If there is any other way I may be of help to you, please let me know. May God guide you and give you peace in you home schooling journey.

Sincerely,
